Louisiana-Lafayette to wear ‘Lafayette Strong’ decals to honor shooting victims

For The Win

University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s football team will wear helmet decals this year reading “Lafayette Strong” as a tribute to the victims of a shooting in a movie theater in the city this July.

ULL Coach Mark Hudspeth spoke to the Lafayette Advertiser:

“I couldn’t be more proud of this community, I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this community, because of the way this community has rallied in the last few weeks since the horrible tragedy.

“The community support and what I saw at Cajun Field, and now what I see driving home every day, with all the Lafayette Strong signs out in the community — it’s unbelievable.”

Eleven people were shot during the attack on July 23 and three died, including the shooter.
